An ambulance, an 18-wheeler and three vehicles were involved in a collision on a highway near Leeds, Alabama leading to four injuries.

After aiding the injured on the scene, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Ric Lindley saw a visibly shaken woman, cradling her unharmed baby.

He approached the woman to see if she was ok.

“I wanted to give her mother time to regain her composure,” Lindley told Al.com

“She’s a young mother, and this was probably extremely traumatic for her.”

The image of Office Lindley holding the child was posted on Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and now has close to 25, 000 likes.

The 60-year-old said he loves kids but doesn’t understand all the attention he’s getting. “I’m just a man. I’m not better or worse than anyone else,” he said. “I’m just a Dad and a grandfather. That’s about it.”
