Oscar Pistorius repeatedly vomited, retched and sobbed as he heard graphic details of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp’s injuries on the sixth day of his murder trial.
The disgraced Paralympic champion vomited into a bucket provided him to by the court and cried loudly as the forensic pathologist who conducted Steenkamp’s autopsy described the damage done to her body in terms so graphic the judge agreed to halt the trial’s live television coverage for the duration of the testimony.
Judge Masipa also stopped the live radio feed from the courtroom and banned journalists from live tweeting the evidence in order to protect people, particularly children, from the grisly details.
Pistorius’ extreme reaction to the evidence won him no fans on social media, with some claiming it was all an act designed to garner maximum sympathy for him.
Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to murdering Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. If he is found guilty, he faces 25 years in jail.
