A Perth family are celebrating the very much unexpected arrival of their second child — a healthy baby boy.

Jayde Lawrence and Kurt Stuart, who hail from Canningvale, had no idea their little one was on his way when they raced to Fiona Stanley Hospital on Monday.

The 27-year-old property manager reported to the facility with what she thought was appendicitis after feeling sharp pains in her stomach — but it didn’t take doctors long to discover she was actually in labour.

After just fifteen minutes and four pushes, new arrival Jax entered the world weighing 3.3 kilograms.

“I was crying to him (Kurt) saying there’s something seriously wrong with me and he goes ‘your stomach is really swollen, I think you might have a burst appendix, you need to go to the hospital now,'” Ms Lawrence told 9News of the whirlwind experience.

“It’s hard to process something when you have 15 minutes to go from being a normal person to laying in a bed being told you’re about to give birth to a small human you had no idea you created.”

The birth which follows two negative pregnancy tests and no significant symptoms, also comes against the odds.

Ms Lawrence has polycystic ovarian syndrome, which means it’s hard for her to conceive, and there are risks carrying a baby to full term that should be monitored closely.

In fact, the couple tried for four years before welcoming their first child — a daughter. And while they were planning to wait a bit longer before trying to expand their family once again, they’re “over the moon” with their bundle of joy.

Congratulations to the happy new family-of-four!
