Explosive new claims are reporting that Olivia Newton-John’s former boyfriend Patrick McDermott who went missing 11 years ago has secretly been living in Mexico with a European girlfriend.

The news comes from Woman’s Day, where investigator John Nazarian told the publication: “It’s rumoured he was with a German national. I spoke to people there. The girl he was travelling with was described as having a German accent.”

The couple dated for nine years before McDermott vanished on a fishing trip off the coast of California in June 2005, and Nazarian says that speculative theories of self-harm to accidental death

are “preposterous”.

“To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no-one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” he said.

A frantic search ensued for McDermott, who was 48 at the time, but a body was never found. None of the 22 passengers who were on the fishing boat at the time saw him go overboard, and the Coast Guard declared him ‘likely drowned’.

Mrs Newton-John reported him missing a week after he vanished when he failed to show up for a family gathering. She had been in the middle of a promotional tour in Australia at the time.

After his disappearance, news came to light that he owed $8,000 to his ex-wife Yvette Nipar in child support. Investigators also revealed he had filed for bankruptcy, with total debts equalling $30,000.

Investigators started looking into the case two months after he disappeared and found that he’d faked his own death and was living in Mexico.

Nazarian is now claiming McDermott withdrew his life savings from a bank account and filed for a passport under his birth name, Patrick Kim.

Investigator Philip Klein reported on the case which finished in 2009, claiming that he’d received a letter faxed to him on McDermott’s behalf.

It reportedly said: “Pat has asked that I portray to you his innocence. Pat has committed no crime. Pat simply wishes to be left alone.

“Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started anew again in a new place both physically and mentally. Stop this search immediately.”
