The Obama family might have just won the award for cutest Christmas picture!
Barack Obama took to Twitter to wish his 98 million followers a Merry Christmas while sharing the sweetest photo of himself, wife Michelle Obama, and daughters Malia and Sasha Obama surrounded by little children dressed as Christmas elves.
“On behalf of the Obama family, Merry Christmas! We wish you joy and peace this holiday season,” the 44th President of the US wrote in his tweet.
It’s so nice to see the family all together, and we’re sure Barack is more than happy to have daughter Malia home from college for the holidays. The father-of-two has been open about how difficult it was for him to drop his first-born off at Harvard University back in August.
“For those of us who have daughters, it just happens so fast,” he said at an event. “I dropped off Malia at college, and I was saying to Joe and Jill [Biden] that it was a little bit like open-heart surgery.”
“I was proud that I did not cry in front of her, but on the way back, the secret service was looking straight ahead pretending they weren’t hearing me as I sniffled and blew my nose. It was rough.” Such a relatable parenting moment. Well, maybe not the secret service part!
The Obamas were not the only presidential family who shared a Christmas photo on social media. First Lady Melania Trump wished her followers a Merry Christmas on behalf of her and Donald Trump on Instagram this year, and it’s certainly a different photo compared to the Obamas’ joy-filled one.
President Donald Trump’s time in the Oval Office has been anything but festive — but even his followers were surprised by how depressing his Christmas picture with First Lady Melania Trump was this year. The couple, seated on opposite sides of the Christmas tree, didn’t even look at each other in the pic shared on the FLOTUS’ Instagram page.
“@POTUS and I had fun helping children track #Santa tonight. Wishing everyone a wonderful #ChristmasEve,” Melania captioned the image. Clearly, the Trumps’ idea of “fun” is very different than most people.
Followers quickly flooded the comment section with disappointed reactions to the holiday picture. “This might be one of the saddest Christmas pictures I’ve seen this season,” one fan wrote before another added, “The last thing this picture says is fun LOL.”
