The latest person of interest in the William Tyrrell case has been linked to child porn.
The Daily Telegraph have reported that Derek Nichols, who police have been interviewing, has convictions for possessing ‘child abuse material’ and also received an 18 month suspended sentence for possession of the material.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Derek Nichols lived within walking distance of the William’s grandmother’s home in Kendall – in mid north New South Wales – where William was last seen in September 2014.
Nichols, who now lives in Laurieton, has denied having watched or seen the material he was given the suspended sentence over, and says he does not know anyone who is linked to the case. “It was a lot of nonsense … I had never even looked at it,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
However, the Daily Telegraph have also reported that Nichols is on the child protection register.
William disappeared from the backyard of his grandmother’s home in Kendall on the NSW mid-north coast on the morning of September 12, 2014, in his treasured Spiderman costume.
