1. WHERE is Timmothy?
Four years after his Mum committed suicide in a US hotel room, his father is still hunting for him.
In a harrowing report, CNN says Amy Fry-Pitzen went on the run with her son four years ago, before taking her own life in the hotel room.
She left a note saying: ‘You’ll never find him’ and that has so far proven true.
Timmothy, who was then six years old, would now be 10.
Her ex-husband, Jim, told CNN that Amy took Timmothy out of class on May 11, 2011, telling the school there was a family emergency.
Police used receipts found in Amy’s hotel room to reconstruct their movements and it seems that Amy and Timmothy spent three day son the road, stopping at zoos and a water park.
On the evening of Friday 13 May, Amy was caught on a camera without Timmothy at a grocery store in Winnebago, Illinois. From there, she checked into the Rockford Inn, where her body was found the next day with the door locked from the inside.
While it’s possible that Amy killed Timmothy and disposed of his body before she took her own life, Jim holds out hope that he is still alive and has appealed the public’s assistance.
2. POPE Francis has moved to empower all Catholic priests to forgive abortion during the upcoming Holy Year.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports on a statement by the Vatican saying that women who have had an abortion will be able to go to confession and receive forgiveness.
“I have met so many women who bear in their heart the scar of this agonising and painful decision,” Pope Francis wrote in his letter, according to the Vatican.
“What has happened is profoundly unjust; yet only understanding the truth of it can enable one not to lose hope.”
The Catholic Church has called jubilee or Holy Years every 25 or 50 years since the year 1300.
3. IF you logged on this morning, maybe you already know this, but Google has a new logo.
In a post to celebrate, the company said: ‘Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years … and today we’re changing things up once again.’
Google says the change was necessary because ‘once upon a time, Google was one destination that you reached from one device: a desktop PC. These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices—sometimes all in a single day.
‘You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!
Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens.’
Early reviews are positive, mainly because the logo is still colorful and fun.
4. YAHOO boss Marissa Mayer is pregnant with identical twin girls … but she has no plans to stay away from work.
In a post on Tumblr this morning, Marissa said: “Since this is a unique time in Yahoo’s transformation, I plan to approach the pregnancy and delivery as I did with my son three years ago, taking limited time away and working throughout.’
Marissa took just two weeks of maternity leave when her son was born in 2012, and she worked from home throughout.
Her post said that while there is no history of twins in her family, Marissa and her husband Zack have ‘embraced the surprise and are very excited about these new additions to our family.’
Identical twins occur naturally in about one in 300 pregnancies.
