Boy plummets to death in Sydney’s QVB

A 13-year-old boy died yesterday after falling four storeys inside Sydney's iconic Queen Victoria Building.

1.A 13-year-old boy died yesterday after falling four storeys inside Sydney’s iconic Queen Victoria Building.

Onlookers told Nine News the boy was sliding on a banister as he played with his little sister when he lost his balance and fell more than 30 metres.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 3pm and the boy was taken to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick where he died just before 6pm.

Horrified shoppers and the boy’s family were faced with a grisly scene as passers-by desperately tried to help the blood-soaked boy.

“I looked over there and there was this kid on the floor and there was blood everywhere on the floor,” shopkeeper Pedro Miguez told The Daily Telegraph.

“And then this guy came and he had blood on his hands and he said he was helping the kid. He said he was still breathing and he just needed somewhere to wash his hands, so he washed his hands over here.”

The QVB released a statement last night extending its “sincere condolences” to the victim’s family.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident and will continue to work with the NSW Police Force on the matter,” it read.

2.An obese seven-year-old Sydney girl has travelled to Egypt for lap band surgery to save her life.

Hana Tarraf put on 33kg, more than doubling her body weight, after having a brain tumour removed earlier this year.

The operation triggered a rare condition called hypothalamic obesity, where the body becomes hardwired to put on weight.

Hana was left constantly hungry, no matter how much she ate, and her extreme weight gain left her in a wheelchair as her small bones could not cope with the extra load.

Hana’s parents Naomi Cook and Nour Tarraf took her to her father’s native Egypt for bariatric surgery after complaining about waiting times and cost of the procedure in Australia.

“My husband and I decided enough was enough, we needed to take Hana abroad to get the help she needed to save her life because it didn’t seem like Australia was able to do it — at least not in a time frame that was acceptable to us,” Ms Cook told News Limited.

“It all went very smoothly. The first few days post-op were extremely encouraging in that Hana experienced a remission of her overpowering hunger – something that has the potential to transform her quality of life (and ours).”

This tea has been linked to several surprise pregnancies.

3.A popular detox tea has been blamed for a string of surprise pregnancies.

Bootea, a herbal infusion which promises to help women slim down, can interfere with the contraceptive pill leading to unexpected pregnancies in several drinkers.

This rather alarming side effect is not listed anywhere on Bootea’s packaging, something Naomi Salt – now six months pregnant with a “bootea baby” – is furious about.

“I am over the moon now, but I was shocked and worried at first to say the least,” she told the Daily Mail. “I am regimental about taking my pill and my first reaction was ‘how has this happened?’

“I’m 26 years old, I’ve got a career and I’m saving for a mortgage. Having a baby was on the cards, but not just now or even this year.”

Naomi Salt is now six months pregnant.

After some research, Naomi discovered a warning hidden in the FAQ section of the tea’s website, which advised drinkers who are on the pill to use a condom while taking bootea.

The tea has a laxative effect that can flush the pill out of a woman’s system before it is absorbed into the bloodstream.

“It is irresponsible, they’ve got a duty of care to young women like myself,” Naomi said. “Bootea assumes people check the website but not everyone will.”

Online forums are full of other women complaining about similar surprise babies.

“At first it was great,” one wrote. “That great feeling didn’t last long. I’m now eight weeks’ pregnant with our third child, and after four weeks of shock it has finally sunk in and I have accepted this.”

Another said: “I had the same result! Don’t get me wrong we are over the moon… But people should be made aware. I’ve been on the Pill for almost 14 years! 28 days of Bootea … PREGNANT!”

4. Kate Hudson and brother Oliver are disowned by father Bill.

Kate Hudson has been asked by her father to stop using his surname as he wants to break ties with his children with ex Goldie Hawn.

The family argument unfolded on social media after Kate – known for her lead roles in Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – and her brother posted stinging photographs on Instagram on US Father’s Day.

Kate’s brother Oliver posted a snap of himself as a child with sister Kate smiling in the arms of their father Bill. The caption read: “Happy abandonment day… @katehudson.”

Oliver followed this with a post of himself sitting next to his stepfather Kurt Russell and captioned this picture “Happy Father’s Day Pa.”

Bill has since announced he has disowned his children.

“I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three,” The Mirror reports.

“I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer part of my life.”

“Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate.”

5. Piñatas that look like billionaire mogul, Donald Trump, for sale in Mexico after controversial comments.

Donald Trump, the businessman, turned politician spitted some racist remarks over the weekend during his Presidential campaign announcement speech.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Public response has been swift.

Univision banned Trump-owned Miss USA Pageant from its airing schedule, NBC released a statement distancing themselves from the candidates views and Dalton Ramirez, a controversial artist, is selling Piñatas in Trumps honour.

According to Yahoo TV the Piñatas are extremely popular with customers “as many want to bash Trump.”
