Australian actress denies child sex abuse allegations

“I need to go to court to have this ridiculous situation quashed. Allegations have been levelled at me, yes. Are they true? Absolutely not.”

1.The actor who played the Freak in Prisoner has strongly denied an allegation of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, more than 20 years ago.

News Ltd reports that Maggie Kirkpatrick, 74, has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency with a person under the age of 16 by Victoria Police’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team.

She has told the Herald Sun: “I need to go to court to have this ridiculous situation quashed. Allegations have been levelled at me, yes. Are they true? Absolutely not.”

**2.Thirty-five women who accuse Bill Cosby of rape have posed for a powerful cover of New York magazine.

Under the title “I’m No Longer Afraid” the women agreed to be named and identified.

Many had been silent for years, saying they feared Mr Cosby, who denies all wrongdoing.

The cover features 35 of the 46 women. Journalists spent six months interviewing each of them separately and says “their stories have remarkable similarities, in everything from their descriptions of the incidents to the way they felt in the aftermath.”

Joyce Emmons, a former comedy club manager who says she was abused in the 1970s, said: “I had a terrible headache, and I said, “Bill, do you have some Tylenol? I have a mother of a headache.” And he said to me, “I have something stronger.” All I remember is taking the pill; I don’t remember going to bed. But I do remember waking up and I had no clothes on.”

Lawyers for the 78-year-old comedian have long denied the allegations, and he has never been criminally charged.

3.It sounds like something from Dexter, but police believe that a woman in West Virginia may have killed a serial killer who came to murder her.

The BBC reports that the woman, who works as an escort, and who has asked to only be identified as Heather, ended up in a struggle after a man called Neal Falls, 45, responded to one of her ads and turned up at her door in West Virginia.

She got hold of Falls’ gun and shot him.

Police later found what they described as a ‘kill list’ in his pocket, but knives, saws, tape, bleach, trash bags and a machete in his car.

“I knew he was there to kill me,” the woman said.

Falls lived in Henderson, Nevada from 2000 to 2007. The BBC says the bodies of three prostitutes were found dismembered along highways during that time; a fourth sex worker was reported missing, but never found.

4.A group of illegal immigrants have been filmed storming onto a Miami beach during a bikini photo shoot.

The New York Post reports that the boat people jumped off their vessel and came out of the water, while model Ekaterina Juskowski, was having her photograph taken at dawn on July 10.

The model told the newspaper she thought the boat might be carrying scuba divers, but kept filming when “men poured out of the vessel, leaving it behind as they ran to shore.”

US border patrol was miffed, saying the video is “testament to how confident these organizations are. (They) smuggle criminals and narcotics right onto the beach.”

Ekaterina is herself a migrant, having arrived in the US as an 18 year old.
