1.A Victorian toddler who was reported missing yesterday afternoon has been found dead.
News Ltd reports that the girl, who has not yet been identified, was reported missing from her home in Mildura in the state’s northwest just after 3.15pm.
The child’s body was found around two hours later, at 5.30pm.
A Victorian police spokeswoman said the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death are still being investigated but homicide squad detectives have been notified.
2.A teenage girl who supposedly collapsed and died after being possessed by the devil was actually buried alive and tried to escape from her coffin.
The Daily Telegraph says desperate family members smashed their way into 16-year-old Neysis Perez’s above-ground tomb after she was heard banging and yelling a day after her funeral.
Neysis had a faint heartbeat when she was removed from the coffin, and her fingertips and forehead were bruised, presumably from trying to push her way out, but she could not be brought back to life.
The report says the girl was three-months-pregnant when she reportedly “lost consciousness after going to the bathroom in the middle of the night” at her home in La Entrada, Honduras.
She was foaming at the mouth, and her parents believed she was possessed. A priest tried to exorcise her, but she became lifeless and was declared dead at hospital.
“The day after her funeral, her husband Rudy Gonzales was visiting her grave at the La Entrada General Cemetery when he heard muffled screams,” the report says.
“As I put my hand on her grave I could hear noises inside. I heard banging, then I heard her voice. She was screaming for help. It had already been a day since we buried her. I couldn’t believe it. I was ecstatic, full of hope,” said Rudy.
He reportedly called his family who helped him break into the coffin.
Medics tried to revive Ms Perez, but she was declared dead. She was re-buried in her wedding dress.
A cousin, Carolina Perez, said: “She had scratches on her forehead and bruises on her fingers. It looked like she had tried desperately to get out.”
3.Yes, there is such a thing as a good cry.
A new report suggests that shedding tears in times of trouble can help you feel better, although perhaps not immediately.
Researchers asked 60 participants to write down how they felt before watching a sad film, such as Life Is Beautiful.
They recorded their moods again after the credits rolled, and then 20 minutes later, and 90 minutes later.
The moods of the participants who didn’t cry remained constant, but those who allowed themselves to sob ended up feeling much better than they had even before they saw the film, although only after about an hour.
The report says scientists aren’t quite sure why humans shed tears. One suggestion is that “it’s a call for support, comfort, or help” but it seems that crying “can better a person’s mood or decrease it.”
4.WHOOPS. A 12-year-old boy has stumbled near a $2 million painting and put his fist right through it.
The moment was captured by security cameras.
The boy was taking a guided tour of an art exhibit in Taipei when he tripped near a painting, put his hand out to steady himself, but his fist went through the canvas.
The painting was Paolo Porpora’s Flowers, an oil on canvas said to be about 350 years old.
The poor kid looks absolutely stunned. He is led from the scene by a museum worker. The museum in a statement said the boy’s family won’t have to pay and restorers are doing their best to fix up the work.
