Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter stabbed to death

“The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer.”

1.The granddaughter of Morgan Freeman’s first wife was stabbed to death on a New York City street on Sunday morning.

E’dena Hines, 33, was stabbed several times as she stood on the footpath outside her home in Manhattan’s Washington Heights.

Police arrived at the scene to find Hines’ ex-boyfriend standing over her body screaming and rambling.

Hines was taken to Harlem Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Her boyfriend, who has been arrested in relation to her murder, was taken to a different hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

“The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer,” Freeman said in a statement.

“Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”

2.Germs! Embrace them, for they are good for you.

A New York geneticist says parents should feel free to “roll their children around on the floor of the New York subway” in an effort to increase their immunity.

The theory is that exposure to germs, especially at a young age, “actually helps prime the immune system so it can defeat these microbes more easily in the future.”

This may explain why “children who grow up around animals and in rural areas appear to develop conditions like asthma less often than children who don’t.”

“We tend to think of our homes and personal environments as these pristine places, and public ones as dirty and infested with bacteria,” Chris Mason, a Weill Cornell Medical College geneticist said.

“But you should really think of yourself as a rabbit who gets to hop between two forests.”

That’s why Mason isn’t afraid to let his own young daughter ride the subway or play in the dirt.

“I would advise any new parent to roll their child on the floor of the New York subway,” said Mason.

As for those anti-bactericial hand wipes and lotions? Use them sparingly.

3.It may well go down as Sydney’s most ostentatious wedding ever but not everyone got into the party spirit.

Auburn deputy mayor and millionaire property developer Salim Mehajer married the love of his life on the weekend, and it was the campest celebration in the world.

The groom and his men were dressed in tight suits and mirrored sunglasses. They stepped out of not one, not two but – count them – four helicopters, onto the red carpet, to pose for photographs.

There were fleets of brightly coloured Ferraris. There was a jet flyover, and even a skyplane.

The men then took off for the bride’s house, where they danced in the streets, and released doves from cages.

The bride, Ashya, wore a crown, and a crystal encrusted gown. The groom wore diamonds, too, and a white bowtie.

He shut down whole streets without permission and threatened to tow cars at the expense of their owners if they didn’t move them from his path.

The Herald reports that the wedding was slightly delayed to allow for the release of the groom’s father from prison.

He was put in jail for misleading a bank over a $3 million loan.

The groom is on the local council and makes money from property development. The sisters are lawyers; they draw up the contracts.

It’s the best, best, best thing you’ll ever see.

Now there’s video of the moment they met, replete with orange gull-wing Ferrari (Lamborghini? It’s so hard to tell) and flash suits and mirrored sunglasses and it’s not even a little bit camp.

4.Now that’s how you kick a footy!

Federal MP Tim Watts posted this fantastic photograph of Western Bulldog Tayla Harris in full flight during a nationally televised women’s exhibition game against the Melbourne Demons over the weekend.

“The result wasn’t what I was looking for but it’s great to see the game being showcased for the nation,” said Tim.

“I’m looking forward to the day when we have a fully professional national women’s league side by side with the men’s competition.”

With technique like that, so are we!
