How would you like your child’s conversations with Barbie to be stored forever in the Apple cloud?
That’s what Mattel is offering, with the new, high-tech Barbie, due to hit the shelves before Christmas.
The New York Post says Hello Barbie is designed to appeal to tech-savvy kids.
“Hello Barbie can deliver 8,000 lines of conversation and will enhance the relationship between child and doll,” the reports says.
Not everyone is happy, with one parent group, called Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood, saying the dialogue between the child and Hello Barbie, to be stored in the cloud, could be used for commercial purposes.
It has started a petition asking Mattel not to release the high-tech doll.
Sales of Barbie have been down for seven straight quarters and are on track to dip below $1 billion a year for the first time in years.
