Father of boy almost drowned in the Murray River by his mum crowd-funds cash – and is slammed for it

Just days after a mother allegedly drowned her five-year-old son and almost drowned her other nine-year-old son, the kids’ Queensland father has made an impassioned plea to the public for money so he can travel interstate to visit his recovering son in Victoria.

However, according to the man’s GoFundMe page, critics have been quick to slam his appeal after it is being alleged that he hasn’t seen the nine-year-old boy in six years, and never met his sadly now-deceased five-year-old.

“My older son was attacked by a dog as he attempted to run from his mother resulting in him being flown to Melbourne for surgery to help save his life all the while his younger brother is still missing,” he wrote on the crowd-funding website.

“I am currently living in Queensland, and I am desperately wanting to get to my boys but sadly am not in a situation where I can afford to get to them…”

“Any donations to help assist me in getting a flight down to my sons would be greatly appreciated.”

While some people donated cash to the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, others were quick to slam him.

“I wouldn’t donate my toenail clippings to you,” one person wrote on the his GoFundMe page.

“You didn’t bother about ever seeing your son in the time he was alive and now you need $5000 to go and say goodbye to him.”

“That dear little boy needed a dad when he was alive, his mother was useless and ending up murdering him but you did nothing to ensure he was protected.”

Another, who’s a father himself, added, “I’m sorry but I’m a father and I know I’d walk if I had to…”

Not only that, but reports also allege that only the nine-year-old child is a son to this man.

This comes after, last week, the man’s ex-partner and mother of the two children was charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to drown her nine-year-old son in the Murray River in Victoria’s Moama.

According to Mamamia, it is suggested that the 27-year-old woman picked her children up from their grandparents’ home (where they had been living for 18 months) on Wednesday, March 1.

The following day, she took the children to her friend’s property in Moama, where it is believed she drowned her five-year-old son, whereas her nine-year-old managed to get away, but was “savagely mauled” by a dog in the process.

The Murray River Council have since seized the dog, with local residents now petitioning to have the dog set free.
