In an interview with Fortune magazine, the 83-year-old News Corporation chief said he was “shocked” to learn that Deng wrote diary entries about the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
He also revealed that he found out about the alleged encounters between his wife and Blair while he was on a trip to Australia.
Murdoch said he immediately travelled back to his family’s California ranch, where Deng and Blair were alleged to have spent weekends. He said he asked the staff there before filing for divorce the following week after 14 years of marriage.
Murdoch said he wasn’t given Deng’s diary entries until after he filed for divorce but didn’t read them.
Blair, who is godfather to one of the former couple’s daughters, denied he had an affair with Deng.
