Melissa Ott, the fiancée of cameraman Adam Ward, was forced to watch the horrific scene unfold in front of her from inside the control room.

“WDBJ photographer Adam Ward’s fiancé Melissa Ott was in the control room — she saw the shooting happen live,” tweeted CNN’s senior media correspondent, Brian Stelter.

Ott, a producer for the program, allegedly watched as the gunman, who has now been identified as former employee Bryce Williams, interrupted a live news broadcast to shoot her fiancée and reporter Alison Parker dead, as well as seriously injure a Chamber of Commerce representative, Vicki Gardner.

Ott and Ward reportedly met on the show, and he proposed to her in April. Ward shared an intimate photo of himself with his new fiancée on his Facebook just days later.

Tragically, the shooting occurred on Ott’s very last day at work. She was due to start another position in Charlotte, where fiancé, Adam, was to join her.

Her colleagues had celebrated a ‘farewell’ office party just hours before.

The shooter, Bryce Williams, committed suicide after uploading footage of the killings onto Facebook and Twitter.
