A British-Australian mother accused of murdering her eight-year-old son made a chilling final Facebook post just months before his death.
Joanne Finch, from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, shared a petition demanding a harsher sentence for a South Australian woman who admitted to the aggravated assault of her eight-month-old daughter.
Part of the petition read: “So many children are left in care of violent families and once the children lose their lives it is too late for you to say sorry!”
The post has since received a slew of comments from members of the public, with many expressing their horror over the prescience of the situation.
The body of Brodie Moran was found at a Tootgarook house on the Mornington Peninsula on Thursday afternoon following a frantic call to triple zero.
Ms Finch, 41, was arrested at the scene and later charged with one count of murder in an out-of-sessions court hearing. She was remanded in custody until June 29.
According to The Herald Sun, Ms Finch told police she “heard voices in her head” and her son died after a “momentary lapse in reason.”
The child’s father, who is estranged from Ms Finch and now lives in China, has since expressed his grief over losing his “little fella.”
Lee Moran replied to condolences left on Facebook on Friday, thanking people for sending their “well wishes.”
“At the moment I feel empty, still in shock. I have lost the best part of me,” he wrote. “Words cannot describe how much I love and miss my little fella.”
Tributes have begun to flood in for the “happy” child, with locals turning out to leave teddy bears and flowers at the family home.
Police are investigating whether the young boy may have suffocated.
