A mother is nervously awaiting the results of medical tests after she stepped on a discarded hypodermic needle at a Queensland beach.
The woman was visiting Burleigh Heads beach with her family, who were working as volunteer lifesavers, on Sunday afternoon.
She stood on the needle and was taken to hospital for blood tests but may not know the results for months.
It comes after a four-year-old girl trod on a needle at nearby Currumbin beach three weeks ago.
