Friends of mum-of-three Ingrid Lyne last saw her on Friday afternoon before she’d planned to go on a date with a man she met online.
But a day later, three body parts – including a food and a head – were found in a homeowner’s recycling bin, with Seattle, US, police identifying them as belonging to Ingrid.
Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole said that a 37-year-old man named John Robert Charlton has been arrested for the crime. He is currently in jail, but no charges have been laid.
Lyne, 40, who worked as a nurse, was meant to be going to a baseball game with Charlton, and it is unclear which dating site she met him on.
It was Lyne’s ex-husband who alerted police she was missing on Saturday morning when he dropped off his daughters to Lyne’s empty home.
A homeowner discovered the body parts – which were packed in plastic bags – in a bin.
Police said the remains were ‘fresh’, indicating the bags had been placed there late Friday or on Saturday.
Police are still searching for Lyne’s car.
Charlton has previous convictions for misdemeanour assault in 1997, misdemeanour battery in 2009 and theft in the same year.
