The grieving mother of two-year-old Kingston Fugawai , who was tragically killed in his own driveway in Sydney on New Year’s Eve, is speaking out about driver vigilance.
The unbearably tragic accident also happened to occur on his second birthday.
Loami Fugawai says she hopes it might be a ‘wake-up call’ to all parents.
“You’re the only one in control of the vehicle,” Fugawai, 23, told The Daily Telegraph.
“You need to be aware of yourself and your surroundings as well. You can never be too sure of yourself.”
The toddler was hit by a Mazda 3 as it drove into the family’s driveway at 7pm on New Year’s Eve.
A police spokeswoman said no charges had been laid.
The little boy’s death rocked the local community. Many neighbours laid tributes to Kingston on the driveway.
Paying tribute to her gorgeous little boy, she said:
“He was always very, very happy. He was a loving person¬ and always had a smile”
Ms Fugawai added that we should never take children for granted.
“They’re a blessing from God,” she said.
