The family of slain woman Tasmin Bahar say the kind-hearted mum was lured to her death with bitter Father's Day trick.

The woman’s family told Seven News that the 35-year-old had only returned to the Smithfield home she shared with her husband, Dave Pillay, because she was taking her three-year-old daughter to visit her dad on Father’s Day.

It is believed Mr Pillay strangled his wife and then hung himself in a bitter murder-suicide — all while their daughter slept just meters away in a bedroom, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Ms Bahar’s cousin told Seven News that Ms Bahar had left the six-year relationship after Mr Pillay had violently threatened her.

Sifat Sharmin Ruponty said “He (Pillay) took a knife to my niece’s neck and that is when (she) decided she cannot live with the man anymore.”
