A woman has been charged with leaving a child or young person in a motor vehicle causing emotional distress after police and medical staff were forced to rescue her children, who’d she locked inside her car.
Fortunately, the children, aged 9, 8,7, and 6, were not injured.
As reported by Sydney Morning Herald, at 3pm yesterday afternoon, just as temperatures hit 40.9˚C at an Officeworks carpark in the south-west Sydney suburb of Bankstown, a passerby noticed four crying children locked inside a vehicle.
According to the police, the 44-year-old woman was not present at the scene, but did later help police with their enquiries at Bankstown police station.
She is expected to appear in Bankstown Local Court on February 22.
