In news that will break even the coldest of hearts, MMA fighter Marcus Kowal’s 15-month-old son, Liam, was killed by a suspected drunk driver, who hit the stroller he was being pushed in.
The driver then drove off without stopping.
Kowal had to do what any parent shouldn’t have to: when Liam arrived at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for treatment, he was declared brain dead, and his life support turned off.
The young boy’s 15-year-old aunt, who was pushing Liam at the time of the accident, received serious injuries but doctors believe she will recover.
The accused drunk driver, Donna Marie Higgins, has been arrested on suspicion of “felony drunk driving and felony hit-and-run,” according to InTouch Weekly.
Kowal has since taken to Facebook and Instagram to express his sorrow over his son’s death, with his tributes pouring in from his social media following.
Not only that, but just four hours after saying goodbye to his son at the hospital, he posted a cautionary video to Facebook, warning people not to drink and drive.
