Domestic violence can appear in a number of forms, and, devastatingly, ricochet from the victim of the abuse on to those who love them.
It appears that such could be the case for one woman and her children, who have reportedly bared witness to their estranged husband/father kill their grandmother, as well as a sheriff’s deputy, before moving from house-to-house shooting another six people in a fit of rage.
According to the wife’s step-father, as reported by ABC News, she and her children had been staying with him in their Bogue Chitto, Missouri home for three weeks after she had left Godbolt because of domestic violence.
The accused, Willie Godbolt, even spoke directly with a reporter, Therese Apel, after being detained by police, telling her that the policeman he shot and killed was “just in the way”.
“I was having a conversation with her stepdaddy and her mama and her, my wife, about me taking my children home,” Godbolt says.
“Somebody called the officer, people that didn’t even live at the house. That’s what they do. They intervene.”
“They cost him his life,” he said, apparently referring to the deputy. I’m sorry.”
Not only that but the suspect conceded that he had planned to “commit suicide by cop” after taking the lives of eight innocent people on the evening of Saturday, May 27.
“My intentions was to have God kill me. I ran out of bullets,” he said. “Suicide by cop was my intention.”
Our thoughts are with the vicitms’ families during this difficult time.
