Missing man to be laid to rest this Friday

The family of Daniel O’Keeffe may find some peace this Friday when they lay him to rest in Victoria.

The family of Daniel O’Keeffe may find some peace this Friday when they lay him to rest in Victoria.

Daniel O’Keeffe was 24 when he went missing from his family’s home in Highton, Geelong, on July 15, 2011.

He left his phone, wallet and other personal items behind.

After five years of desperately searching across the country, Daniel’s father Des found his remains in a “cavity” he discovered while digging in the side of a hill alongside the house.

After so much uncertainty, this week, Daniel’s family will lay him to rest, according to the Missing Person’s community Facebook page for Daniel.

“Thank you so much for your support over the years, and especially in recent weeks,” the post read.

“This community has played such an important role in our lives and we are sincerely grateful.

We want to let you know that Dan will be laid to rest this Friday and ask that you keep us in your thoughts.

“The burial will be private, but those of you wishing to attend the service can find details via the Geelong Advertiser. Please appreciate that we cannot respond to comments at this time.

“You are wonderful people – we couldn’t have coped without you”
