The mother of Daniel O’Keeffe, the Victorian man whose remains were discovered under his home five years after he went missing, has slammed police by saying “It was clear he wasn’t a priority for them.”
Lori O’Keeffe said a final goodbye to her “beautiful boy” at an emotional funeral in April, and she believes that had the police place a higher priority on her son he would have been found much sooner, reports Daily Mail.
Daniel’s sister, Loren, told The Sydney Morning Herald- of the investigation:
“There’s a lot of disappointment from day one.”
Both of the women say that the police barely stepped foot in the family home. Lori believes his remains would have been found in “20 minutes” if police had tracked his phone or used a search dog.
“In a way I feel cheated that my last act as mother was taken away from me,” Lori told Fairfax. “If Dan had been found on the day I would have been able to hold him and say goodbye.”’
The family had been searching for Daniel since he disappeared in 2011 when his remains were discovered under the family home on March 21st.
An autopsy found the death was not suspicious.
