If this ground-breaking Australian research is true, this could be the life-changing news that could save torturous heartbreak for parents across the world.
Revolutionary new research conducted by scientists at The Victor Change Cardiac Research Institute has revealed that they have narrowed in on what they believe is one of the chief causes of miscarriages, as well as numerous birth defects.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, low levels of a molecule known as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) can, in fact, damage embryos pertinent to the first weeks of a pregnancy – the time when organs are beginning to develop.
And not only have these scientists found a cause, but, possibly, a cure that won’t burn a hole in anyone’s wallet.
Apparently, during their research, by increasing a pregnant woman’s vitamin-B intake upped the embryo’s NAD levels, which, in turn, could be indicitave of the potential to dramatically slash miscarriage and congenital malformations across the world.
“This has the potential to significantly reduce the number of miscarriage and birth defects around the world, and I do not use those words lightly,” says Professor Sally Dunwoodie, one of the senior researchers who worked on the study, as reported by SMH.
Considering one in four pregnancies in Australia end in miscarriage annually, this breakthrough could irrevocably change the lives of the 103,000 impacted by this traumatic experience each year.
But this doesn’t mean our hearts go out to those who have lost their children to miscarriage or birth defect in the past…
Our thoughts are with those families, and our hopes are with those to come.
More on this developing story to come…
