Melbourne Airport, a Qantas jet and St Paul’s Cathedral included in new ISIS video

A chilling ISIS propaganda video shows Melbourne landmarks.

Melbourne has been directly depicted in a new ISIS propaganda video with Melbourne Airport, a Quantas jet and St Paul’s Cathedral featured.

The 20-minute video called ‘The Impenetrable Fortress’ contains extremely violent and confronting images of beheadings and corpses before it flashes to a timelapse of Melbourne’s cityscape.

An explosion at a mosque is shown before images of Melbourne Airport and St Paul’s flash up.

Speaking to Seven News, Islamic politics expert Professor Greg Barton said the purpose of the video is probably to encourage homegrown terror attacks and incite fear:

“They’re hoping, it would seem, by putting Australian scenes in a propaganda video, somebody in Melbourne or Sydney will look at that and be tipped over the edge into trying to do something,” Professor Barton told Seven News.

Meanwhile, police said they’re aware of the video but unaware of direct threats to Melbourne.

“While such materials are disturbing, Victoria Police is not aware of any direct threat to the Victorian community or infrastructure at this time,” a spokeswoman said.
