Mars has been forced to recall millions of fun-sized chocolate bars in 55 countries after a piece of plastic was found in a Snickers bar on January 8.
The affected chocolate was manufactured at the company’s Dutch factory and has a best before date of between June 19, 2016 and January 8, 2017.
It is not clear if the recall applies to Australia but it does not extend to the US.
“As far as we know there are 55 countries involved,” Eline Bijveld, Mars corporate affairs co-ordinator for the Netherlands told AFP, refusing to divulge the whole list.
“We are currently investigating exactly what’s happened, but we cannot be sure that this red piece of plastic isn’t in any other of our products from the same production line.”
