For some, the practice of writing Christmas cards is a dying art, but one man has discovered that something as simple as an annual card can forge lifelong connections.
Andrew Simes’ grandfather wrote Queen Elizabeth a Christmas card every year from 1952 until his death in 2011.
Knowing how much it meant to his grandfather, upon his death Andrew took over the mantle and he ensured that The Queen was at the top of his Christmas card list.
What Andrew didn’t expect was lovely response from Her Royal Highness herself.
It is always heartwarming to hear of The Queen displaying beautiful human moments with her subjects, and if it there was a ever a story to encourage the continuation of the tradition of Christmas cards, then let this be it.
