A man has been charged after allegedly filming up the clothing of a young woman as she slept on a Newcastle-bound train last week.
Tegan Portener, 22, was horrified when she claims she woke up to find a man pointing his camera at her in what she claims was a covert effort to film her on Thursday.
After reporting the incident to the Police Transport Command at Broadmeadow station Tegan also posted a video to social media which shows the man pushing the phone under his seat in her direction only stopping when the young woman confronted him with her own phone filming him.
During an interview with The Project Tegan spoke of her confusion about the situation.
“I was really shocked at first and kind of didn’t believe what was really going on. It was kind of funny because I was kind of like, ‘What is this grub doing? What is happening under this chair here? I was really confusing until reality set in and I realised whoa this guy is for real and videoing me.”
Following thousands of shares of the video Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Cessnock this morning charging him with filming person’s private parts without consent and offensive conduct.
They seized a phone and computer hard drives from a home and the items have been turned over to specialist investigators.
The man has been granted conditional bail and will face Toronto Local Court on April 20.
