A father has been charged after he forced his teen son into sparring with him as a form of punishment, while filming it and putting it online.
The man, who has been identified as Travis Sellers from Virginia, US, put the disturbing video onto Facebook Live for the world to witness.
In the video, he and his son both have boxing gloves, but the father lays into him to the point where his son is left bloody and bruised.
Before the horrific assault began, Sellers says to the camera that the violent session was “discipline for not following my directions, secondly for teaching him how to defend himself”.
He says his son – who is believed to be 17 – ditched class and walked out on teachers without letting him know where he was.
Sellers punches him in the face and the head for two minutes when he stops and tells his son to clean up.
The boy is covered in blood and whimpering, to which Seellers turns to the camera and says “that’s how you discipline a teenager”.
The caption of the video reads: “Blessings come in all forms and mines came in the form of a great young man to have as a son. I feel I would be the worst disappointment to him if I didn’t do my best to deter him from choices in life that I have seen lead to destruction. The world now has given us platforms to reach out and show your efforts. A lot of people were hurt by this video. And that was not the purpose. I did it to show what has been working for ME.”
According to news website Rollingout, he has been charged with domestic assault and battery charges released on $US5,000 bond.
