BREAKING: Man arrested after Virgin flight evacuated in Albury

“As soon as we landed the cabin crew started yelling ‘Get out, run, run, run’.”

Passengers were told to “get out and run, run, run” as soon as their Virgin flight from Sydney to Albury landed.

A passenger told the AAP the doors were “ripped off” from the outside by authorities while passengers were told to jump about 1.2m from the plane to the tarmac and leave their luggage behind.

A male passenger on the plane was arrested on the tarmac and escorted away by the police.

“The man didn’t seem to resist the arrest.”

“As soon as we landed the cabin crew started yelling ‘Get out, run, run, run’,” the passenger told AAP.

He said while the passengers were assembled on the tarmac, police arrested a man wearing a red jacket and red hat.

The passengers described the man as calm throughout the flight and said he got up and went to the toilet once.

It was then that News Corp understands he left a threatening note which was discovered just before landing at 9.35am.

It is understood the note contained a bomb threat, but the claims are so far unconfirmed by police. The Australian reported that he had written on a sick bag that he had stashed a bomb on the aircraft.

The incident comes less than a week after a man threatened to explode a device he claimed was a bomb on a Malaysian Airlines’ flight.

Unlike the Virgin flight this morning, it took police over 90 minutes to board and arrest the man and have been largely criticised for not prioritising getting the passengers off the plane.
