The show’s not even over but it looks like George Miller and his Mad Max team will have a lot to celebrate this Oscars eve.
The Australian director’s film received a total of 10 nominations and has already bagged SIX of them including Costume Design (Jenny Beaven), Makeup And Hairstyling (Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega, and Damian Martin), Production Design (Colin Gibson – Production Design, Lisa Thompson – Set Decoration), Sound Editing (Mark Mangini and David White), Film Editing (Margaret Sixel) and Sound Mixing (Chris Jenkins, Gregg Rudloff, and Ben Osmo).
The film is still up Oscars for Best Picture.
Miller, who won his first Oscar for Happy Feet, told reporters he wasn’t expecting his post-apocalypse film to be honoured at the Academy Awards, let alone receive the second most nominations of any film this year.
“It’s a party I didn’t expect to be invited to,’ he said, “Needless to say we’re doing little happy jigs and it’s really nice to be invited to the party.”
