Karl Stefanovic’s wife, Cassandra Thorburn has revealing the impact her estranged husband’s job has taken on their family.
According to NewsCorp, just days after Nine’s Today claimed a contentious victory in the ratings over rival, Seven’s Sunrise for the first time, Thorburn took to Facebook to open up about the role she played in Karl’s success since joining the show as co-host 12 years ago.
“Apparently Today Show finally won a year,” she wrote.
“This took a huge toll on my family and I, and I’m congratulating myself today for all the effort that went into making that happen.”
Thorburn, 44, then went on to detail what kind of role she took on behind the scenes to support her husband.
“The suggestions, the story ideas, the constant counselling of questions for years,” she said. “I’m giving myself a pat on the back tonight, as I know many people will also know how much effort I put into it.”
She ended the post by saying she was enjoying a bottle of wine sent to her by her Karl’s manager.
“Found a lovely tipple to cheers myself. Thanks for the red Sharon Finnigan SF Celebrity Management,” she posted.
In the past Karl has talked about how much his wife sacrificed for his career and acknowledged she was a promising reporter for the ABC when she left work to raise the couple’s three children, Jackson, 16, Ava, 11, and River, 10.
‘”She gave up a promising career at the ABC and I’m forever thankful and tremendously appreciative of that,’ he revealed in an interview last year. “Cass wanted to be at home, and wants to be there now, and we’re very lucky to be in a financial position where we can do that.”
After 21-years together Karl and Cassandra announced their spilt last month. Karl is believed to have moved out of the family home and taken up residence at James Packer’s multimillion dollar Bondi unit.
Until now both parties have remained mum on the split.
Chanel Seven continues to contest the ratings victory. The station claims Nine has only accounted for audiences only in the major metropolitan cities and overlooked number brought in by regional viewers.
