Jules Allen had a two bedroom home with four children.

The former Masterchef contestant has also taken in 31 foster children over her lifetime.

“Nothing makes me happier than sitting on the couch and watching this patchwork quilt of a family come together,” Jules tells The Weekly in the latest Let’s Talk episode.

An Ambassador for Adopt Change and Foster Care Australia, Jules began working in child protection when she relocated to Lennox Heads with her son, and took in a young girl who was friends with her best friend’s daughter.

“In hindsight I was six years older than Sam and there I was parenting this kid who was not much younger than me.

“I guess there are so few go-to people. That’s the problem.”

Moving to Lennox Heads to escape an abusive relationship, Jules speaks to The Weekly about the violence she faced in her relationship with her first son’s father.

“My son was about six months old and [his dad] threw him in the car and I ran out trying to get my son off him. He reversed the car and I was in front of the car and he hit me and I went under the front wheel,” she says.

“I ended up escaping in the middle of the night with a baby and a bag of clothes.

“So I turned left [on the highway] and arrived at my girlfriend’s in the middle of the night and from there started my journey in Lennox. I moved in and got my first foster daughter then. She was 16.”
