A secret stash of letters from President John F. Kennedy to one of his Swedish lovers will be sold at auction.
The New York Post reports on the sale of letters from the President to a young socialite called Gunilla von Post.
The couple met just weeks before the President married Jackie.
The letters are dated from 1954 to 1956.
The auction house, Doyle New York, says the couple met in Cannes, France, in 1953.
Two of the letters are signed, and there are three hand-written envelopes.
In one letter, Kennedy says: “I am anxious to see you — is it not strange after all these months? Perhaps at first it shall be a little difficult as we shall be strangers — but not strangers… It is a long way to Gunilla — it is worth it.”
In another letter from 1956, Kennedy reacts to Gunilla’s upcoming marriage to a wealthy Swedish landowner.
“If you don’t marry come over as I should like to see you,” it reads.
“I had a wonderful time last summer with you. It is a bright memory of my life — you are wonderful and I miss you.”
