Melbourne TV personality Kim Watkins told Woman’s Day of her “unnerving” experience with the 79-year-old who allegedly ran his hands over her buttocks and waist after taping an interview with him on 9am With David and Kim.
“As we were lined up for a picture, me on one side of Rolf, David on the other, he slid his hand on my backside, then straight up my back, under my armpit, and uncomfortably near my breast,” Kim revealed.
“Then Rolf leaned into me, buried his face into my neck and groaned and sort of shuddered at the same time, making a strange noise, like, ‘Ahahahaha!’ I pulled away, repulsed.
“I was so disappointed to realise what a dirty old creep he was. What he did was so weird, disturbing and sleazy, I was stunned.”
The 46-year-old told the magazine she was horrified because like so many others she considered Harris her “childhood idol.”
Mia Freedman wrote last week about her experience with Harris who she described in four words: “Arrogant. Entitled. Opportunistic. Sleazy.”
The Mamamia blogger shared an anecdote about the time she met Harris at a backyard barbecue as an eight-year-old and he was brazen and relentless in pursuing her married mother for a date right in front of her child.
Freedman wrote: “For anyone who’d ever crossed paths with Rolf Harris, the guilty verdict was no surprise.”
Daily Telegraph journalist Annette Sharp recalled her creepy encounter with Harris as a 19-year-old when she met the entertainer while covering a scout jamboree in rural Australia in the late ’80s.
While interviewing the Two Little Boys singer, Harris, about 57 at the time, asked a teenage Sharp for a cuddle. The young reporter willingly obliged his request but she said the embrace left her feeling “odd”.
“I didn’t feel I’d been “groped” or inappropriately fondled by a sexual predator. The exchange was, however, odd,” wrote Sharp.
“I distinctly recall thinking: ‘He’s unlikely to be the faithful husband type …’ and then wondering why Harris, then aged about 57 and based in the UK, was in the bush with 1000 young children.”
And it’s not just Australian women who have come out accusing the singer of getting a bit too familiar.
Irish singer Linda Nolan has claimed she was fondled at the age of 15 by Rolf Harris while supporting the entertainer on a tour of South Africa over four decades ago, with the performer licking her neck.
Nolan, told the Sunday Mirror Harris, 44 at the time, blindsided her with a bear hug backstage before sexually assaulting her.
“His arms were all over my back, right around me so his hands were touching the sides of my breasts,” Nolan, now 55, said.
“He rubbed up and down and started kissing and licking the back of my neck.
“He towered over me. If I’d had to fight him off, I couldn’t have. It was horrible and I was totally dumbstruck.
“But after a couple of minutes of me trying to wriggle him off without him stopping, I whispered to him ‘Please don’t Rolf, please, please stop.’
“He did stop then, but looked at me like I was an idiot. He laughed it off and said ‘don’t be silly, I’m only giving you a hug.'”
On Friday Rolf Harris was sentenced to five years and nine months’ jail for indecently assaulting four girls in Britain between 1968 and 1986.
