Having a snake drop into your lap as your halfway through a sausage sandwich at a family picnic is something you’d have to see to believe. Well, prepare to gobsmacked.
While Douglas Wong, 22, and his family, who were visiting from China, were enjoying a family barbecue by the Yarra River in Melbourne, a circling hawk spotted a snake in the nearby reeds, picked it up and dropped it right on top of them.
Yikes!
And it doesn’t stop there; the video shows the snake, having seemingly recovered from its fall from the sky, gliding across the ground in the family’s direction.
But before you run for the hills and hide from snakes coming down like rain, many critics have been quick to call the video out as a fake.
However, Wong stands by his video, stressing that it’s the real deal.
‘We didn’t know it was a snake until it got really close and my uncle ran,” he says.
‘I just took it on my phone so I can’t really prove it so people keep asking but I don’t mind [people saying it’s fake].”
Regardless of this video’s authenticity, snakes crashing our family picnics is something we’d prefer not to think about.
