These recipes would make even the most avid foodies feel queasy.

While it was the decade that gifted us with discos, vinyl records, sideburns and The Brady Bunch, there’s no doubt that some of the recipes on offer in the 70s were…well…questionable.

Just take a look at this Happy Living! book for brides one blogger recently uncovered. It was gifted to her mother before her late 70s wedding and gave instructions on how to cook and decorate meals in a way that “reminds your husband how lucky he is to have ‘caught’ you” everyday.

Inside, the ‘Time to Entertain’ section of the book are recipes that could make even the most avid foodies feel queasy.

Lamb Kidneys with Rosemary, Apple Beef Meat Rings and Creamed Eggs in Corned Beef Crust (with ingredients including white bread, a raw egg, six hard-boiled eggs, a can of mushroom soup, a can of mushrooms, milk, and Worcestershire sauce) are just some of the concoctions new brides were encouraged to dish up “on trays in the living room with soft background music” helping to set the mood.
