Gold Coast man charged with 168 offences after he touched down in Australia from Thailand last night

The 42-year old’s charges include rapes, torture and possessing and making child exploitation material.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with 168 offences, which reportedly occurred on the Gold Coast between 2003 and 2005.

The sickening allegations included rapes, torture and possessing and making child exploitation material.

He returned to Australia from Thailand last night and was later arrested by Queensland police.

The man appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning where he was remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned until February 13.

9 News reports he’s been charged with the following offences:

• 74 counts of possessing child exploitation material;

• 39 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16;

• 29 counts of rape;

• seven counts of deprivation of liberty;

• six counts of involve child in the making of child exploitation material;

• six counts of make child exploitation material;

• five counts of torture; and

• two counts of serious assault.
