Girl killed by lightning as she takes call from dad

In tragic news, a schoolgirl has been killed as lightning struck her phone when she was answering a call from her dad, according to reports.

A storm broke out as 11-year-old Arina walked near her home in a village in Chernoyarsk in Russia.

The young girl was helping her grandparents by trying to drive the sheep into their pen before the rain, but she got lost in the fields.

Arina’s grandfather went out looking for her, and instead found her lifeless body.

Unfortunately paramedics could not save her.

Arina and her sister Milana had been staying with their grandparents while their parents were living and working in the city.

Police are currently investigating the case.

Milana claims Arina had tried to answer a call to her mobile phone just before she died, which was found to have come from her father.

“When the storm began, our father called her mobile phone, she replied and lighting struck right on the phone. It just melted in her hands,” she said.

She also says the time of the lightning strike and the call have been matched up by police.

According to a local media report, Arina suffered 90% burns to her body.
