A 15-year-old girl was forced to shave her head after a bully poured super glue in her hair, causing chemical burns.
Hannah Combs was sitting at her desk at Texas’ Harker Heights High School on September 15, waiting for her second period class to begin when a boy snuck up behind her and squirted the glue onto her scalp.
“It instantly started burning,” Hannah told her local newspaper the Killeen Daily Herald. “It felt like my head was on fire. It was horrible.”
While Hannah went to the school nurse’s office, a friend called her father Christian Grimmer, who picked her up and took her straight to the local emergency ward.
Doctors diagnosed Hannah with first degree chemical burns and advised her to shave her head, leaving Hannah devastated.
“I realised I lost my favourite thing about me,” she said. “My hair was the only thing I liked about myself, honestly. I lost it for no reason.”
A Facebook page, called Justice for Hannah, set up by her parents has since attracted more than 8000 likes from around the world.
Hannah says the response on Facebook has made her want to become an anti-bullying campaigner.
“It makes me want to help other people,” Hannah said. “There are people who couldn’t stand up for themselves but they talk to me about it. It makes me want to help. It’s amazing how many people are supporting me.”
