An ex-AFL player, who has played for several clubs, is facing court after being found naked in an ex-lover’s garage, sitting in a dog’s bed, allegedly threatening to slash the tyres on her car.
The man, in his 40s who played in Victoria during the 1990s and who has not been named, is also accused of calling the woman a “w***e”.
The incident occurred on Friday night in Heidelberg West, a suburb of Melbourne. The Herald Sun reports that the woman returned ho0me around 7.30pm to her unit and heard noises from the garage. She investigated to find the accused sitting naked in the dog’s bed “grunting incoherently”, says Victoria Police prosecutor Sgt Brooke Shears.
The man said the statement was false and that he was only naked because he’d been caught in the rain.
“These aren’t even my clothes,” he said of the outfit he was wearing in court.
Magistrate Ross Betts refused the application for bail and the man continued to swear under his breath as he was led out of the dock.
He was remanded to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court this week.
