Female terrorist detonates suicide vest during police raid in Paris

A female suicide bomber has set off her explosive vest during a raid on her Paris apartment.

French police have stormed the Paris apartment close to where terrorists launched their deadly attacks last week, prompting a young woman to detonate her suicide vest.

The woman, who has not yet been named, is the first female terrorist linked to the carnage in Paris.

The explosion killed the woman, and another man died after detonating a grenade.

The New York Times reports that French police stormed an apartment in the Paris suburb of St.-Denis overnight, in an effort to stop further attacks.

The apartment is close to where three of the seven attackers blew themselves up during the Paris attacks. A total of seven people were arrested after the raids, three in the apartment, two who were found hiding, and two more outside the apartment.

Police raided in time to prevent “some kind of operation” the suspects were planning, according to reports. At least five police officers were injured in the raids, and seven-year-old police dog Diesel lost its life.

From another apartment in Paris, news agencies have released the first images of the hotel room where the Paris terrorists stayed before the attacks – and they are littered with drug paraphernalia and pizza boxes.

The BBC has published video obtained by French magazine Le Point, which is said to show the inside of two rooms rented by one of the suspects, Salah Abdeslam, for two nights before the attacks.

The video shows ‘syringes lying on a coffee table as well as a set of short needles and plastic tubing … it has been speculated the terrorists may have drugged themselves up before they carried out their deadly rampage,’ the report says.

Besides the pizza boxes, the room was littered with wrappers from chocolate purchased from a hotel vending machine.
