A family of four has been found dead in a home in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
The bodies of a 44-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were found by police at a home on Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive in Davidson on Monday in response to concerns for their welfare raised by people who knew them.
Police said that both children had a significant disability, believed to be autism.
The family’s dog was also found dead in the home. It is understood the woman was scheduled to work in the canteen of a local school on Monday, and the alarm was raised when she did not arrive.
“We are gradually working our way through this very tragic circumstances, to get to the bottom of it to find out the truth about what has happened here today,” Superintendent Dave Darcy told the media.
Recent reports from news.com.au say that officers forced their way in and found the horrific scene.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported neighbours saying the family had lived in the leafy street for several years and the children were often seen playing in the front yard and in a park nearby.
“I would wave at her in the street,” a woman who lives around the corner said. “They kept to themselves but seemed lovely.
