Donald Trump used his first press conference as President-elect to slam a dossier published by Buzzfeed that alleged Russia had some seriously compromising intel on him.
He likened the publishing of the report to “something Nazi Germany would have done”.
Referring to the allegations in the report (that he had been urinated on sexually by prostitutes in Moscow), he asked:
“Does anyone really believe that story?” Adding, “I’m also very much of a germophobe by the way, believe me.”
He said the publishing of the report was done by “sick people” and suggested intelligence agencies had leaked it,
“I think it was disgraceful, disgraceful that the intelligence agencies allowed any information that turned out to be so false and fake out there,” Trump said.
“As far as Buzzfeed which is a failing pile of garbage writing it, I think they’re going to suffer the consequences, and they already are,” he stated.
He refused to answer questions from Buzzfeed, who published the dossier, at the press conference or CNN, who Trump said encouraged the allegations. He branded them “fake news”.
You can watch it unfold above.
The Telegraph reports the former MI6 officer who produce the dossier has fled his English home “terrified for his safety”.
In a surprising show of camaraderie, a Fox News host (the network is notoriously pro-Trump), Shepard Smith stuck up for rival network CNN over their coverage. “Though we cannot confirm CNN’s report, it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards,” Smith said.
“Neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to such belittling and delegitimising by the president-elect of the United States.”
At the press conference, Mr Trump also took the time to reveal who he thought hacked the Democratic National Committee and the emails of other top Democrats during the 2016 presidential election = Russia.
However, he defended wanting better ties with the country.
“If Putin likes Donald Trump, I consider that an asset, not a liability,” he said.
Also worthy of note was Trump’s comments on the controversial ‘wall’ he plans to build between the American-Mexican border.
He says he wants to start immediately on building the border wall between the US and Mexico.
He states that negotiations with Mexico on the funding of wall will begin immediately after he takes office.
It’s certainly going to be an interesting four years.
