Donald Trump has found himself in hot water after suggesting his gun-toting supporters could have some unspecified way of stopping his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton from ending their second amendment rights.
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump said while at a rally in North Carolina. “By the way, and if she gets to pick — if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Many people sitting in the crowd as Trump made the comments seemed to giggle but his remarks have ignited an online backlash, pundits accusing him of inciting violence.
Eventually, the Trump’s team released a statement claiming he was just referring to “the power of unification” – for all gun owners to join together and stop Clinton’s election at the ballot box.
But Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, had his own understanding of what Mr Trump had said.
“This is simple – what Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be the President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.”
