It’s the sort of footage no mother wants to see – a teenager risking their life in the name of ‘fun’, all for their classmates’ amusement.
Footage obtained by 9 News shows a teenage boy leaping off a light pole and into a river. It’s unclear whether he was injured or not from the mammoth
jump as his identity is unknown but it’s thought he attends Kingscliff High School.
His friends can be heard yelling ‘go!’ as he sits on top of the light before making the dangerous jump.
Authorities in Queensland are bracing themselves ahead of the school holidays with extra security measures in place. These include brand new ‘nightvision cameras’ which have been installed at Surfers Paradise where eight people have drowned at night in the past decade.
