Shark swims up to young boy, his dad accidentally photographs the whole thing

“I zoom in on the second photo and see he's just done a backhand snap on an 8-foot Great White shark’s head.”

One young surfer had an expected run-in with a 2.5-metre-long shark, but, at the time, he didn’t even know it.

And neither did his onlooking dad.

Chris Hasson was taking photographs of his 10-year-old son Eden surfing at Samurai Beach in Port Stephens in New South Wales and, at first, didn’t see the Great White in the water.

“I’m on the rocks taking photos of Eden,” Mr Hasson wrote on Facebook as reported by the Daily Telegraph.

“I see a big dark shape and about to call the small group in and Eden takes of on a left and smashes it to the beach.”

“Just as he is taking off I see something out of the corner of my eye. I keep shooting and after he finishes and starts paddling out I zoom in on the second photo and see he’s just done a backhand snap on an 8-foot Great White shark’s head.”

Mr Hasson yelled out “Shark!” alerting surfers in the water to head back to shore.

Chris’ young son Eden says he was lucky he didn’t see the shark right next to him as he may have fallen off his board into the water with shock.

“When I paddled I saw [the shark] ahead just floating around, and when I came up to do the turn I thought it must have been just seaweed,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
