Marco Mejia is coming to terms with the tragic death of his seven-month-old daughter, Ollaia Marie. But despite his devastation, the heartbroken father has reached out on facebook to ask the community to forgive his daughter’s killer – her mother, Lisa Marie Scalia.
According to the police reports, Scalia had 34 bags of heroin and 10 oxyconone pills in her possession when she accidentally rolled onto Olaia Maria on the 3rd January. The baby was smothered unconscious.
Olaia Maria was rushed to hospital in Philadelphia in an unresponsive state, but the little one didn’t regain consciousness and passed away less than a week later.
During the ordeal, Marco shared his thoughts and feelings via a series of posts on Facebook. “I cant do this alone”, he said in one post, ” The pain is too great”.
Then, as the full extent of Olaia’s prognosis hit home, he posted the following:
“First off I want to thank everyone for all the love n support,” he said.
“… I now have to give u the bad news that these will be my daughters last days… I would like to spend them with my daughter alone so if u were planning on visiting please dont… allow me the time to say bye to my little princess… Thanks for understanding n god bless”.
On January 10, after Olaia had passed away, Marco shared a heartfelt and emotional post on Facebook, paying tribute to his young daughter;
“My darling my angel the brightest star of them all…your mommy and daddy will never forget…. your eyes and your smile those chubby lil legs….this pain is insane but love will prevail… I find peace in my heart knowing god needed you there…”
Despite his grief, Marco is clear about one thing – Lisa Maria should be forgiven, and in another Facebook post urged the community to stop judging and ‘hating on’ her.
He wrote: “Please everyone remember that Lisa Marie loved Olaia Marie … she definitely made the biggest mistake anyone can make but I refuse to believe she did this horrible act on purpose… no one is in more pain than me except probably her… if I can forgive her I know everyone can forgive her.”
Lisa Marie is currently in police custody after being charged with child endangerment and drug possession. Whether or not further charges will be laid following the infants death is yet to be seen.
